NG7 6ft van / On30 7ft box car.
A small 4 wheel box wagon with working sliding door both sides.
10.5mm wheelsets and couplers not included. Designed for Kadee couplers
Van/Box car size is 45mm long, 35mm wide, 50mm from rail head to top of roof.
This generic, freelance design takes its cues from various North Wales narrow gauge wagons. For On30 it makes a great small tool car.
The 45mm (1.25") chassis is designed for 10.5mm wheelsets with 26mm axles , but can accommodate 25mm. (I use both).
Wheelsets run in brass "top hat" pin point bearings (supplied). Once weighted, this car is a very smooth running wee beastie! various styles of N. Wales wheels are available from the 7mm NG association Sales, or use HO 36" wheelset form various suppliers (Kadee, Tichy, Altas, Bachmann and others)
Laser-cut rigid chassis and integral body made from 1.5mm amd 1mm premium ply. This makes for a tough model, resilient to handling and transportation rigours. All parts have alignment features for easy assembly. Additional strapping and cosmetic parts are laserboard.
the van/box body is likewise made from microply, with laserboard framework and roof. (including roof rain strips)
The coupler pockets are set up for centre set, medium length Kadee (148 whisker couplings or old number 5s). The coupler height correct to the HO Kadee gauge. While the chassis was designed around kadee draft boxes, there is enough space to fit NEM pockets if so desired.
KHM "simple link" couplers (supplied) will fit using the same hole as the Kadees to give a close coupled rake. Only use Kadees at the end wagons to shunt the whole rake - at least that's what i do!
The chassis frame design leaves a lot of space for adding WEIGHT. My prototypes are around 32g with small lead weights in the chassis. Weights not supplied in the kit - that would push up shipping.
For NG7 use, a Victorian Ffestiniog style brake lever is supplied. For On30 use a brake wheel is supplied. The kit has both.
