NG7 Dinorwic Rubbish Wagon
LASER CUT KIT. PACK OF 3. not available separately.
Wheels and couplers not included.
The slate industry moved millions of tons of slate waste during extraction and rubbish/spoil/rubble wagons were the backbone of all slate operations. At Dinorwic these simple inside frame, open end steel tubs could be seen all over the quarries.
Designed for 9mm or 9.6mm wheelsets with 1.9 to 2.1mm diameter axles. Alan Gibson curly spoke wheels and Evermodel 33" HO scale wheelsets have used in the pilot builds. The wheelsets clip into the chassis frame without requiring the wheels to be removed. They run freely in the laser board hole. As this is an inside frame prototype I recommend filing down the points on the axle ends.
The internal frames are designed to take a Kadee draft box, but plenty of space for use with other couplers eg NEM or hook and chain. With 9.6mm wheelsets (33" HO) and underset Kadees the coupling height is correct for the Kadee gauge.
There is a reasonable space even in the small internal chassis for additional weight.
Features a rigid internal chassis, and uses tough 0.4mm laserboard for the body.
Body is splayed out slightly at the open end as per the Dinorwic prototype, and the characteristic rolled over corners can be modelled easily, as can dents and bashes in the body, by slowly bending with pliers.
Rear grab bar and lifting hookeyes included.
Rivets are laser engraved.
