NG7 Penrhyn Rubbish Wagon
LASER CUT KIT. PACK OF 6. not available separately.
Wheels and couplers not included.
The slate industry moved millions of tons of slate waste during extraction and rubbish/spoil/rubble wagons were the backbone of all slate operations. This kit is the later, more common place, steel chassis version of the Penrhyn rubbish wagon and could be seen hauled in long rakes behind open cab Hunslet quarry locomotives.
Designed for 8mm, 9mm or 9.6mm wheelsets with 26mm or 25mm diameter axles. Alan Gibson 9mm curly spoke wheels, Evermodel 33" HO scale, and Kadee HO wheelsets have used in the prototype builds. The wheelsets with pin point axles run in brass bearings supplied with the kit.
Designed with underset Kadee couplers in mind for the end of rakes (use with 33" HO wheels for correct height), but plenty of space for use with other couplers eg hook and chain.
There is a good space even in the small chassis for additional weight, without the need to hide it in a load.
Features a rigid 0.9mm/0.6mm laserboard chassis , and uses tough 0.4mm laserboard for the body.
Purists step aside! This is designed for 16.5mm gauge so while all the features of the prototype are followed as closely as possible, the chassis and body is wider to accommodate the larger gauge. If you want it to be exact, then you will have to model in 0-14.
The angled lifting hooks are included and the characteristic rolled over corners can be modelled easily by turning over the material with pliers.
Rivets are laser engraved. Please feel free to count them - I believe there are the right number on the outside at least :)
