  1. Stairway to heaven (groan!) 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Nov 2013

Seriously, stairs are complicated beasts in real life or in model form. However, this little kit takes a lot of the hassle out of the assembly by providing two simple but accurate jigs to aid construction. The stringer jig holds them in place whilst the stair treads are glued to them whilst the jig for assembling the hand rails is brilliant. Scratch building handrails is not for the faint hearted in On30 but the jig takes most of the swearing out of what is still a fiddly job due to the size of the parts. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the components are accurately cut meaning the stairs assemble without fuss. Each stair tread and the landings have laser cut nail holes, something that I have not come across on American kits and its a very nice touch. I 'kit bashed' my stairs to suit my layout but I have lots of bits left over should I need more stairs at a later date. Thoroughly recommended.
