On30 loco backshop / car repair shop.

"FRAME ONLY" KIT.

FRAME ONLY kit includes the wall frames, roof frames, the floor (boards cut for On30), and apex roof vents

it can be assembled as left hand or right hand road.

comes in 2 lengths: 9" and 13"

There is now a roof mounted water tank option for this kit, available in the "building depot"

This is a highly versatile structure, perfect for kit bashing. the wall frames  can be arranged in lots of configurations, and chopped about as required.

It is a 6" wide structure with a single road that can be made left, right or with a bit of chopping the road cane central. this leaves a lot of internal space for workshop fitting and machinery. it can also have a straight road right through the shop.

I bashed the early 9" prototype as a car repair, with a central wall and the road open to the elements, adding some extra posts on one side. I also added a KHM boiler shack to one side.

* FRAME ONLY KIT INCLUDES :-

-> frames:  cut from 3mm laser ply. they include tabs to aid construction.

-> Flooring: this includes a sub-base that will take Peco HO or ME On30 track, and laser-cut panels which covers up the ties.

-> Roof apex vents: these are cut from 0.8mm (1/32") birch microply.

-> new for Sept 2023: smoke stack and smoke hood - 1 pair.

* Optional extras for the frame only kit, available from the "Building Depot" part of the website!

       ->   KHM 6" rib industrial corrugated iron.  Rolled from 0.15mm thick aluminium. this material is structurally strong and can be glued direct to the frame work. includes narrow strips for the roof apex, and smaller sheets for the apex vents.  I used this in the proto car repair shop roof. it weathers great for a really old rusty roof!

       -> Shingle strips. these are plain light brown material laser cut card. they are not self stick.  you will need one pack. you will need to add a surface to the roof frame to stick them to! (card will do)  Not available yet.

       -> Obechi Wall boarding. for a "backwoods" look. these are laser cut boards,  0.8mm (1/32") thick, cut from obechi. its a hardwood sheet, quite like basswood but with a very slightly more pronounced grain. the idea is you can stain and apply boarding individually. you will need to trim them around windows. (KHB001) Available in 2 widths, you would need 2 packs for this structure. (both 9" and 13" lengths)

windows and doors are not included.  The frames are cut with KHM products in mind, but of course you can source your own. you might only want windows one side, or fewer windows than the kit frames can take.

      -> stall door used for this kit is KHB006 or KHB007 (with windows). if you are going straight through you'll need 2!

      -> the side windows are designed to use KHM "engine shed windows"  KHB008 or KHB008A (with open vents). the 9" length will need a maximum of 2 packs of 4 windows, assuming you fit them all. the extended 13" version can take a max 3 pack of windows. but for sure you wont want that many!! 

       -> the end windows (if you fit them) are cut for the sliding sash windows (KHB003A). There 4 in a pack.

       -> large sliding door. its a machine shop so you need to get machines in and out! the frames are designed so the large single sliding door fits nicely!! (KHB009)

kit instructions are emailed in pdf format. there are no printed ones with the kit.
