O/On30 Oil Dock kit
Suitable for both standard gauge and On30 Oil tank cars.
The dock is designed for 2off 30ft standard gauge tank cars, 2off 28ft On30 or 3off 18ft On30 tank cars. I use all 3 types on my dual gauge On30/0 module. The space saving design is essentially freelance, but takes many cues from the Chama oil facility on the D&RGW - but purists back-off!! This is not Chama!
Total footprint with minimum configuration is 13.2" x 1.8". A lot of detail in a small space :)
All structure components are laser cut parts mostly from premium laser ply, that use tab and slot for easy assembly.
Main key features:
Oil dock gantry. The framework is decked with wood and supports the access ramps and pipework. It has handrails and access ladder.
Elevated shack. sited at the end the the oil dock on its own stand, when used with the dock it is a supervision hut. It is also available separately as a stand-alone single car oil facility.
Pump house. 2.3" x 1.8" shack with external framework. fits within the oil dock gantry, or can be sited away from the dock.
Fixed pipe work. all the pipework you see in the photos is included (and from Jan22 has enough to create pipes that go under the track as shown). the more complex stand-pipe assemblies are pre-formed and pre-soldered from brass. The main 4.8mm pipes (3/16") can be used with other commercially available castings and fittings, but the kit now includes 3D printed 90 degree elbows.
Movable Reach pipes. These are the 3 pipes that extend over the tracks. Rather than being a fixed length, the hinged design is taken from other parts of the oil industry. This is useful if varied length tank car types are used, or dual guage is used. even though we normally model them in out of use position, it is good to know that they could "work" - even if just posing for photos, so the reach pipes are fully movable. they are pre-formed and presoldered assemblies.
Extra oil dock and pipework is available in 11.9" lengths if you wish to extend the dock.
No printed instructions are included in the kit, rather they are emailed to you in pdf format at point of shipping. If you wish to see them before purchase please request that using the contact page on the website. No obligation, electrons are free :)
